Meet El Equipo – The Teachers

We are so thankful that you are a partner in what God is doing in Guatemala City through Lemonade! This is lived out through various teams and we want you to “Meet El Equipo (The Team)”. This week we wanted to share the impact through the teachers that Lemonade is having on communities in Guatemala City.

One of the questions that we asked every teacher to answer in our questionnaire is, what motivates you to work at the Alcance center? Reading the answers of these heroic women really impacted me. Each teacher commented with selflessness and a profound desire “…to offer the ability to leave small footprints in the heart of each child” or “to help children who need it the most”. The sacrifice these teachers make in order to touch the lives of each student in their center, demonstrates the loving power of God and puts on display His love for His children. It shows God working and awakening a passion in others to answer the call and be His hands and feet in Guatemala City by spreading joy through laughter and innocence from the most vulnerable.

As an outsider, I’ve enjoyed learning about the teachers in this center and I’m inspired by the work they are doing, the hope they bring and the goodness they provide. All of this sparks in me the question “how can I help?” How can I walk alongside our teachers and help them in this journey of outpouring and generosity? How can I make a difference that uplifts our teachers and encourages them to keep going and keep inspiring the future of Guatemala City when things get hard or when feeling weary? So I encourage you to ask yourself the same question, “how can I help?”.

One of the most powerful ways we can help is to pray for them. Below you will find three prayers that we have put together and would ask you to pray over the course of this week.

  1. Pray for energy and patience as these teachers give each student the best possible education and share the love of Jesus each day.
  2. Pray for the students in each class, that their hearts would be open to the life saving message of Jesus.
  3. Pray for wisdom for teachers as they not only serve the students but also their families.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing with you other key individuals and teams that serve their communities. We can’t wait to share more with you about the people you partner with. Your generosity and prayers are making the difference in communities throughout Guatemala City!
