One partner, Asociación Comunitaria Alcance, serves nearly 1,000 students in four Alcance community centers — Santa Catarina Pinula, El Pueblito, El Carmen, and Villalobos.
Filled with light, hope, and laughter, kids can be kids here. They experience an alternative to gang life.
The centers are safe havens. Loving instructors welcome the children with smiles and hugs.
Staff and volunteers help with homework, teach important life values, and embody the love of Jesus.
Their teachers offer instruction, discipleship, and life-skills. They make holistic impact possible..
The students grow socially as they play with their friends, teachers and volunteers.
They grow physically as they are fed, clothed, taught proper hygiene, and receive vitamins.
They grow spiritually as they are loved, valued, and taught the way of Jesus.
Local Guatemalans—some who live in the communities where they serve—are employed by the centers as instructors and cooks.
To save money and build ownership, youth receive a stipend to serve as assistant instructors.
Some instructors even rotate and help as custodians. All of them have devoted their lives to unconditionally love the children entrusted to their care.
They partner with local colleges and universities, provide a place for parenting classes, meeting space for the local public school, computer and job training for youth, and a launching pad for relationally-based ministry among the children, individuals, and families in the community.
