La Limonada Shoemaker Set To Make 350 Pairs Of Shoes For Children

Each Christmas we provide Christmas gift options for you to give the children and staff members in Guatemala and one of those options is to provide school shoes for the children. This year we are excited to announce that we will be supporting a local business in La Limonada that will make the shoes to be provided through the generosity of individuals and families who choose to give this Christmas gift.

Over the past several weeks our team in Guatemala has been working with “O”, a local shoemaker from La Limonada on plans for him to make approximately 350 pairs of shoes for the children who attend the schools in La Limonada as well as for our scholarship students and the children who live at the Mi Casita Safe Home. This will be a great opportunity to give much-needed shoes to the children while supporting a local family-owned business.

When I was in Guatemala a couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to go with Tita and Rebecca to visit “O” and see the small shop area in his home. While in his home we spent time with him and his son, “Josue”. We shared “Josue’s” story of being paralyzed by a bullet while stealing on a Guatemala City bus. This is a family that has clearly experienced pain and tragedy, but as we talked with them there was also a sense of hope that their lives will continue to be better.

In two days you will have an opportunity to buy school shoes for the children of La Limonada that will be made by “O” and his son, “Josue” who will help as he is confined to a chair in the home for the past two years. By giving this gift you will be making an impact on the lives of the children and “O” and his family.

Visit our website this Friday, November 25 for your first chance to “Give Christmas” to the children and staff members in La Limonada.
