When I was about to graduate from high school in Brewster, NY in the late 1980’s, my church, Grace Assembly of God, began a Spanish service to meet the needs of the growing Central American population in the town. More than 20 years later, the Lemonade team was invited to share about our work in La Limonada with the people of Iglesia Fuente de Gracia (Fountain of Grace Church) – which has grown to now exist as its own congregation – at their Wednesday night service.
They meet in the same building as the church I grew up in… so it was great to be back in a place where a huge impact was made in my life. Best of all, the church is predominantly made up of people from Guatemala, so there was a great connection between us because of the common love we share for their country. Pastor Richard and the people of the church were so loving and generous. It was like being back in Guatemala… which is like a second home to us.
