Over the past couple years the Cincinnati, OH area has become a major hub of activity with many new connections being made with the La Limonada community – which helped to create a great opportunity for a road trip this weekend. Cherie, Miyah and I made the beautiful 500-mile drive through North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio on Thursday and now our time in Cincinnati is now coming to a close.
Two of our team members, Kate Dundon and Rebecca Gant, are in the area visiting their families for the holidays so it has been great to spend some quality time with them. Rebecca’s family have been gracious enough to host us while we’ve been here and their friendship and hospitality has been amazing!
Friday morning we spent time with friends, Kevin and Nona Peyton, who have not only spent time in La Limonada and sponsored children, but have leveraged their business to raise funds for the new Mi Casita Safe Home. In the afternoon we got to hang out with our friends, Jeremiah and Sarah Griswold. They are some of the best people in the world and almost all of our Cincinnati connections trace back to them.
Friday night, with Jeremiah’s help, and the Vineyard Central community we hosted a Navidad En La Limonada Christmas gathering. It was great to personally connect with so many people who visited La Limonada, sponsored children, and supported the programs in La Limonada. It was like being at one big family Christmas party!
Saturday evening and Sunday morning the Cincinnati/Lemonade Int’l family was enlarged as we had the privilege of sharing about our work in La Limonada at all three weekend services with the Vineyard Church Northwest community – where board member Ray Strecker serves as the Pastor of Compassion Ministries. Pastor Van Cochrane and his wife Laurie were great hosts and invited us to share time with them along with Ray and his wife, Carole, over lunch at their home. We are excited about our new partnership with their community.
Today a group of volunteers will work together on our Christmas mail out and tonight we wrap up our time here as we share a meal with Paul Taylor, Jeff Sharp and their wives. Paul and Jeff lead Rivers Crossing Community Church – which has been an incredible partner for the past year – sponsoring almost 100 children and teachers in La Limonada and generously supporting the Community of Faith.
We are incredibly grateful for the friendships, partnerships and outpouring of love, prayer and support from so many here in the Cincinnati, OH and we plans on making this one of our homes away from home. We hope to see all of you again before too long.
