FAC is the microfinance arm of Lemonade International that provides small loans, matched savings accounts, entrepreneurial education, and relational support to the people of La Limonada. One of the things that make FAC unique is that it was started internationally and is operated domestically by students from UNC-Chapel Hill. Stateside, students work with on-the-ground Guatemalan staff to facilitate operations, while simultaneously supporting the organization by realizing back end work such as fundraising. On November 19th, we had our first annual fundraiser in Charlotte, NC.
Hosted by the parents of one of the student, Armando and Aida Perdomo, we held a cozy dessert social that was in many ways our organization’s “coming out party” to share all the wonderful work we have been able to accomplish in the past year and a half. Several people were able to make it out, enjoy tasty desserts with us, and learn all about FAC!
With over $2,000 raised through in-person and online donations, the event was a great success! We look forward to sharing many stories of change and transformation these funds will allow. We are so thankful for our supporters and advocates — we could not do what we do without them!
To help spread the word about our work please send an E-card on the FAC website.
