DurhamCares is an organization with a mission to “engage all Durham residents in crossing boundaries to love their neighbors with both time and money in ways that show relationship and ongoing commitment“.
After meeting DurhamCares co-founder and CEO of Bandwith.com, Henry Kaestner, last year, it was very evident that he has a passion for his hometown of Durham and for issues of extreme global poverty. Following several conversations, plans began to come together for a DurhamCares vision trip to Guatemala.
The idea is to give Durham residents an opportunity to meet and “Love Their Neighbors”, not just across town, but around the world.
The trip, in partership with Lemonade International, will take place from November 5-7 and will include visits to the two schools and to homes in La Limonada, a meeting with a Guatemalan microfinance (MFI) organization, visits to businesses that are run by MFI borrowers, as well as potential visits to The Mailbox Club and the work of Safe Passage.
If you are from the Durham area and are interested in being a part of this Vision Trip, send an email to email@example.com with “Durham Cares Guatemala Trip” in the subject line.
