We want to congratulate Limón School Director and Psychologist, Sofi Majus, on the completion of her Master’s degree in psychology! We are so grateful for Sofi and the passion and love she has for the children and families of La Limoanda.
The following is from Sofi:
Since I started to study in the University I knew that one of the gifts that God has given me are to work with children and serving others. For seven years I was a Kindergarden teacher… and in the last year of my Psychology degree I started to work with Vidas Plenas in La Limonada.
For my parents it has always been so important us to get an education. My father always told us that there’s no better inheritance than giving a child an education. But as a daughter I knew I had to be responsible and complete my studies. My parents taught me to fight for what I want in life and always finish what I start. One of the satisfactions that I have as a person in my years of University and Masters, is that I’ve paid for all of my studies. Thanks to my parents because they’ve taught me responsibility.
Definitely God will change our thoughts and feelings as we strategically serve our neighbors. It has been one of the most gratifying experiences to be able to be part of changing lives of the children in La Limonada.
I love to work with children, to give them tools for a full life. They know that they’re valuable for being who they are and maybe their stories are hard but God can change them. And just like me – they can go forward in life. They don’t need riches to be someone important in life.
I never thought I would stay working in La Limonada but it’s the place that God has chosen for me and he has a purpose. – Sofi Majus
Lemonade International board member, Kevin Peyton, his wife, Nona, and their family have become close with Sofi over the past few years. They wanted to share some thoughts about Sofi:
We are so blessed to have Sofi in our life. Over the past three years we’ve been able to host Sofi in our home in the US and spend time with her in her home in Guatemala. We’ve seen how hard she’s worked and the sacrifices she makes to serve the children and families of La Limonada. Her joyful presence and serious commitment to her education are motivated by the kids she loves so much and the teachers she leads. We feel like proud parents knowing what it’s taken for Sofi to receive her Masters.
Sofi, we love you and are so glad you are part of our family. – Kevin & Nona Peyton
